Day 1

Arrival in Tanzania

Airport Pick-up & Hotel Transfer (Moshi)
Upon arrival at either Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK), our Royal Horizon Tours representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi.
Later in the day, you'll meet your mountain guide for a comprehensive climb briefing and equipment check. Any missing gear can be rented locally before the trek.

Day 2

Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa (Forest Camp)

Elevation: 2,385 m → 2,780 mDistance: 6 kmHiking Time: 3–4 hours

After breakfast, drive to Londorossi Gate for registration before continuing to the Lemosho trailhead. Begin your trek through the lush rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp.

Day 3

Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp

Elevation: 2,780 m → 3,505 mDistance: 8 kmHiking Time: 5–6 hours

Leave the rainforest behind as you ascend into the heath and moorland zone. Enjoy spectacular views across the Shira Plateau.

Day 4

Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp

After breakfast, continue your trek across the scenic Shira Plateau toward Shira 2 Camp. The trail offers panoramic views of Kibo Peak and the surrounding moorland landscape. This is a relatively gentle hiking day, allowing your body more time to acclimatize to the increasing altitude.

Day 5

Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp (via Lava Tower)

Today's trek is one of the most important for acclimatization. Ascend gradually to Lava Tower (4,630 m), where you will stop for lunch before descending to Barranco Camp. Following the "climb high, sleep low" principle helps your body adapt to the altitude while enjoying dramatic views of Kilimanjaro's unique alpine landscape.

Day 6

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Day 8

Barafu Camp → Uhuru Peak → Mweka Camp

Begin your summit push shortly after midnight. Reach Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) the highest point in Africa before descending via Barafu Camp to Mweka Camp for your final night on the mountain.

Day 9

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

Descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you'll receive your summit certificate. Afterward, transfer back to your hotel in Moshi for a well-deserved hot shower and celebration.

Day 10

Departure

Hotel Transfer to Airport
After breakfast and depending on your flight schedule, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK) for your onward flight.
