Arrival in Tanzania

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be welcomed by your Royal Horizon Tours representative and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. Meet your mountain guide for a detailed climb briefing and equipment inspection.

Day 2

Lemosho Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

Driving Distance: ~95 km
Driving Time: 2–3 hours
Hiking Distance: 6 km
Hiking Time: 3–4 hours

Drive to Lemosho Gate for registration before beginning your trek through the lush rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp, surrounded by giant trees and abundant wildlife.

Day 3

Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp

Hiking Time: 5–6 hours

Leave the rainforest behind as you climb into the heath and moorland zone, enjoying magnificent views across the Shira Plateau.

Day 4

Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp

Cross the spectacular Shira Plateau while continuing your acclimatization and taking in panoramic views of Kibo Peak.

Day 5

Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp (via Lava Tower)

Climb to Lava Tower for acclimatization before descending to the beautiful Barranco Valley, surrounded by towering cliffs and giant groundsels.

Day 6

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Hiking Distance: 5 km
Hiking Time: 4–5 hours

Conquer the famous Barranco Wall before continuing across scenic alpine valleys to Karanga Camp.

Day 7

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Hiking Distance: 4 km

A steady climb brings you to Barafu Camp, your base for the summit attempt. Rest early while preparing for the climb to Uhuru Peak.

Day 8

Summit Day & Descent to Mweka Camp

Hiking Distance: 17 km
Hiking Time: 12–15 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Begin your summit attempt shortly after midnight. Reach Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the Roof of Africa, before descending via Barafu Camp to Mweka Camp.

Day 9

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

Hiking Distance: 10 km
Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
Meals: Breakfast & Lunch
Complete your descent through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, receive your summit certificate, and return to Moshi for a well-earned rest.

Day 10

Moshi to Tarangire National Park

Distance: ~260 km
Driving Time: 4–5 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Begin your safari with a game drive in Tarangire National Park, famous for its giant elephant herds, majestic baobab trees, and diverse wildlife.

Day 11

Tarangire to Central Serengeti
